Jonathan Peterson is a Real Estate Financial Analyst who works for the nationally renowned affordable housing syndicator, or equity provider, Enterprise Community Investment (ECI). In this role, he evaluates prospective investments in affordable housing developments across the US for real estate investment funds managed by the syndicator. Jonathan knows that understanding oneself is participatory, not only in relation to community but also through the interactions between ideas, actions, and mobilizing financial resources. In this light, he affirms that it is essential not to confuse how a place looks now with how it might look one day in the future. Jonathan has worked and supported community forward real estate development projects and initiatives with a particular eye towards leveraging financial returns for racial equity and the use of public-private partnerships for creating dynamic spaces for a diverse range of people. Rooted in theories of economic development, complexity, and information, he has consistently found innovative solutions and offered valuable insights to push the needle forward on how to be better stewards of market forces and the built environment.
In addition to serving as a board member for UDI, Jonathan also has a board position with the Durham Technical Community College’s initiative to combat student homelessness. Jonathan holds a Master of City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Mississippi State University.
